The UAE-based foodtech startup jalebi.io has officially closed its operations. Founded in 2021, the company specialized in an intelligent operating system designed to manage restaurant and food chain back-end processes including inventory, production, and supply chain logistics across six Gulf markets.

Throughout its tenure, jalebi.io secured significant industry recognition and support. The startup earned the MAJRA Gold Seal in November 2025 and received endorsements from the UAE Ministry of Economy under the Future100 initiative. It was also backed by the MBRIF platform and the Hub71 business accelerator. The company successfully moved institutional clients away from legacy systems like Microsoft, SAP, and Oracle, proving its technical relevance in the regional market.

Despite raising capital from various venture funds and angel investors, the company has not disclosed specific reasons for the permanent shutdown. In its final communication, the leadership acknowledged its team and the difficulties inherent in building new infrastructure. They framed the closure as a single chapter in a larger narrative of regional entrepreneurship.

This departure marks a notable shift for the local foodtech sector, which has seen heavy investment in recent years. Jalebi.io served as a prominent example of software integration for kitchen networks, focusing on point-of-sale systems, supply chain visibility, and fintech solutions. The company leaves behind a portfolio of institutional contracts and several international innovation awards from markets including South Korea and Canada.
