Lubbock entrepreneur launches farmer’s market in Tahoka

Leanna Adams is bringing a fresh economic spark to Tahoka. A Lubbock salon owner, Adams recently launched the Tahoka Farmers Market to provide a dedicated space for regional growers, bakers, and artisans to reach customers directly. She saw a need for this kind of community hub and took action by securing land on South Fifth Street.

The initiative is built on a clear mission of service. Each month, the market features a silent auction where proceeds go toward Rhonda’s Helping Hands, a local group that supports families facing medical or financial hardship. Beyond the immediate aid, Adams creates space for new entrepreneurs by donating one booth every month to a startup business. She is also coordinating with local students to integrate business education and marketing experience into the event operations.

Community response has been strong. Vendors including bee farmers and local bakers sold out of produce during the inaugural event on July 4, which also featured live music. Adams views this market as a long-term contribution to the area. She intends to build the organization over the next fifteen years before transitioning ownership to her granddaughter, ensuring the market becomes a permanent fixture in Tahoka.

The market operates on the first Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 1507 South Fifth Street. Adams continues to search for new vendors to round out the selection, specifically looking for food trucks, coffee providers, and local boutiques for the August 1 event.
