U.S. energy services employment remained stable in July. According to the latest report from the Energy Workforce & Technology Council, the sector recorded 628,136 jobs. This figure represents a minor dip of 614 positions from the previous month.
This trend stands in contrast to the broader U.S. labor market, which reported a net loss of 23,000 jobs during the same period. The industry continues to show resilience despite wider economic shifts that have affected other sectors of the economy.
EWTC President Molly Determan notes that firms are balancing operational discipline with the need to retain a skilled workforce. Companies are currently managing uncertainties in commodity markets, trade, and geopolitical developments while preparing for potential changes in activity levels.
This latest data confirms that energy service providers remain focused on stability throughout 2026. By keeping payrolls consistent, businesses aim to ensure they have the necessary personnel to respond if market demand picks up in the coming months.
