Physical manufacturing roles are not immune to these trends. Patternmakers for metal and plastic, along with hand-operated grinding and polishing workers, face declines exceeding 19%. The automation of these skilled manual tasks reduces the total headcount required in manufacturing environments. Even industries with small total workforces see sharp percentage drops as machines take over specialized craftsmanship.
Absolute Job Losses and Volumetric Impact

Cashiers, for instance, face a 6.5% decrease, yet this represents 200,600 fewer positions by 2035 due to the sheer size of the current workforce. Technical fields remain the other engine of expansion. Data scientists, for example, anticipate a 34.6% increase in employment as organizations struggle to make sense of large internal data sets. Renewable energy infrastructure also demands workers, with solar photovoltaic installers and wind turbine technicians slated for growth rates of 36.5% and 29.5%.
