Gov. Evers: Wisconsin among top nationally for veteran employment services
Wisconsin has earned a spot in the top five states nationally for veteran employment services for the third consecutive year. The state secured fourth place in 2025, according to benchmarks set by the U.S. Department of Labor. This ranking measures how effectively state systems provide job placement and career services to veterans.
The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development reports that over 62% of veterans who utilized state services during the program year ending in June 2025 secured employment. These services include resume development, military-to-civilian experience translation, and direct employer connections. With approximately 300,000 veterans residing in the state, these programs remain a priority for the administration as they navigate civilian job markets.
State officials emphasize that employers currently face a tight labor market and are actively seeking skilled workers. The state’s Office of Veterans Employment Services works alongside the Vets Ready Employer Initiative to bridge the gap between military training and private sector requirements. This recognition program honors companies that commit to hiring and retaining veteran staff.
Applications for the 2026 Vets Ready Employer recognition are currently open through July 31. Winners will be announced this November on Veterans Day. As the state prepares for National Hire a Veteran Day this Saturday, officials continue to refine these delivery systems to ensure veterans have access to long-term career opportunities.
