Citigroup continues its aggressive expansion within the wealth management sector. The firm announced this week that Alex Kokolis will join as head of investments platform experience starting September 8. Kokolis moves to the bank after his tenure as global head of wealth management client section at MSCI.

In his new role, Kokolis reports directly to Keith Glenfield, the head of investment solutions at Citi Wealth. His primary objective involves refining the investment platform and ensuring the firm maintains its commitment to an advice-led, open-architecture model. He will coordinate with internal product teams to align service delivery with the company's broader strategic goals.

The hiring of Kokolis is the latest in a series of talent acquisitions by Citigroup. Recent appointments include Adam Clark from JP Morgan as head of wealth planning and Rob Lunn to the investment management division. These moves follow a period of consistent financial performance for the bank. During its second-quarter earnings report, Citigroup noted nine consecutive quarters of revenue growth, with wealth management services and retail banking seeing a 17% increase.

Before his time at MSCI, Kokolis held positions at Wilmington Trust, UBS, and Merrill Lynch. His experience spans over a decade at major financial institutions, providing a background that aligns with Citi’s current focus on growing its investment fee revenues and deposit spreads.
