Savant Gets Stake From Hamilton Lane, Cynosure Stays Invested
Savant Wealth Management has secured a $270 million minority stake investment from Hamilton Lane. This transaction allows original investor Cynosure Partners to provide liquidity to its initial backers ten years after they first entered the partnership.
Cynosure Partners will remain involved with the firm through a continuation vehicle. Another early investor, Kelso & Company, also retains its minority stake. Savant employees continue to hold the largest share of the business, ensuring they maintain significant control as the firm grows.
Savant currently manages over $57 billion in client assets. CEO Brent Brodeski stated that the firm is now more than 25 times larger than it was when the original partnership with Cynosure began. Earlier this year, the company completed a major acquisition of a Massachusetts-based firm with $3.9 billion in assets.
Hamilton Lane acted as the sole investor in the continuation vehicle for this deal. Representatives noted that Savant operates in an attractive segment of the wealth management market and maintains a strong management team. Campbell Lutyens provided financial advisory services to Cynosure during the process.
This move highlights the ongoing trend of private capital firms managing long-term investments in high-growth advisory businesses. With this funding secured, Savant continues to focus on its expansion goals while keeping its employee-ownership structure intact.
