Leadership Changes at Schroders Wealth Management
Schroders Wealth Management has appointed Jyane Quek as its new head of marketing and communications for Asia. The firm is currently moving to strengthen its regional presence by tapping into Quek’s experience at Standard Chartered. Her mandate includes overseeing the firm’s brand strategy, client engagement, and digital demand generation across the region. She will work directly with Evonne Tan, the Asia CEO, and Estelle Bibby, the global lead for marketing and communications.
Quek arrives at a time when the firm is aggressive in its regional hiring. Earlier this year, Evonne Tan joined from Barclays as the Asia CEO. Sharon Sim also recently joined as head of business development in Singapore. These moves reflect a deliberate push to capture the shifting wealth landscape in the region. The firm is positioning itself to handle the transition of wealth between generations, a process that is currently accelerating among high-net-worth families.
Professional Background and Strategic Focus
Before this appointment, Jyane Quek spent over three years at Standard Chartered. Her most recent role there involved leading planning and effectiveness for the bank’s global corporate affairs and marketing department. She describes her approach to the new role as data-driven, emphasizing the need to align marketing initiatives with clear business outcomes. She intends to balance the scale of a global organization with the specific needs of local markets in Asia.
Prior to her time at Standard Chartered, Quek spent seven years at Google. Her tenure there included a role as head of creative engagement for the Asia-Pacific region, where she worked on go-to-market content and thought leadership. She also served as an APAC business lead for Google’s large customer sales team. In that capacity, she advised CMOs on brand building, creative strategy, and the use of first-party data. She began her professional career at Mediacorp before moving into business development roles at Forrester Research.
The Regional Wealth Context and Industry Impact
Asia’s current financial environment presents a unique set of challenges and opportunities for wealth managers. Quek notes that the region is experiencing significant wealth creation alongside a change in how families manage their assets. Clients now expect more from their wealth managers than simple financial products. They look for stewardship and expertise that matches their long-term family goals. Schroders aims to bridge this gap by highlighting its 200-year history while offering a flexible, independent wealth proposition.
Strategic communications will play a central role in this expansion. By focusing on digital tools and measurement, the firm expects to translate its global investment experience into content that resonates with Asian investors. The industry is watching these movements closely as competition for high-net-worth individuals in Singapore and Hong Kong continues to intensify. Schroders is betting that its recent leadership appointments will provide the necessary experience to differentiate its brand in a crowded market. Investors and competitors should watch for how the firm integrates these new marketing strategies with its client acquisition goals over the next eighteen months.
