Social Security is paid out on Wednesday, July 22: who gets benefits today?
The Social Security Administration is moving forward with the final round of payments for July 2026. Beneficiaries who were born between the 21st and the 31st of any month are scheduled to receive their benefits this Wednesday, July 22.
This distribution follows the established schedule for the month. Those born earlier in the month received their payments on July 8 and July 15. The agency uses the birthday of the primary account holder to determine the payment date for individuals receiving benefits based on another person's employment record.
For those who do not receive funds today, the agency continues to manage other payment types. Recipients who began their benefits before May 1997 or those who also collect Supplemental Security Income were paid on July 2. These dates are shifted occasionally when federal holidays fall on standard payment days.
Beneficiaries have several options for how they access these funds. The agency encourages the use of direct deposit into a bank account, which can be configured through their online portal. Alternatively, funds can be loaded onto a Direct Express debit card for those without traditional banking access.
