Keith Joseph, a student photographer based in Baton Rouge, recently saw his work reach a massive audience. His project featuring the Glen Oaks High School football team at the Blue Bayou Waterpark captured attention on ESPN’s digital platforms. The process of arranging the shoot was not immediate. It required a week of persistence to secure access to the venue, including direct communication with management and the business owner.
The resulting images moved beyond the standard style of high school sports documentation. By moving the subjects to water parks, zoos, and local golf courses, Joseph aimed to distinguish his portfolio. He noted that the response from the public and sports media surprised him, as he had hoped for interest but did not expect the reach he achieved.
Joseph is preparing to attend the University of Louisiana soon. He plans to maintain his work in sports photography and continue covering various events. He credits his parents for their consistent support, which allowed him to invest in the equipment and time needed to build his reputation as an emerging photographer in the region.
