Amazon MGM Studios recently acquired the worldwide rights to the feature adaptation of Lauren Asher's motorsport racing novel, Throttled. The film features Josh Heuston, known for his work in the romantic drama series Off Campus. This project marks another step in Amazon's push to adapt popular romance literature into streaming titles.
Throttled tracks the story of an ambitious woman who enters the high-pressure world of professional racing alongside her brother. She becomes involved in a forbidden relationship with her brother's teammate and primary rival. That rival is the character played by Heuston. The novel is the first installment in Asher’s Dirty Air series, which has sold millions of copies globally.

Nzingha Stewart will direct the film. The script comes from Melissa Osborne. The production side includes Max Handelman and Elizabeth Banks of Brownstone Productions. They are joined by Jennifer Gibgot, Andrew Panay, and Garrett Grant. Alison Small and author Lauren Asher serve as executive producers for the project.

That performance made it the third most-viewed debut season on the platform, trailing only high-budget genre staples like The Rings of Power and Fallout. Lauren Asher has established a reach across 14 languages, moving over five million units worldwide.
