Author Carley Fortune is seeing her work move from bookshelves to the screen in a significant way. Four of her romance novels are currently in various stages of production for television and film adaptations. This trend began in June 2026 with the debut of Every Year After on Prime Video. The series is based on her novel Every Summer After and introduces viewers to the story of Percy Fraser and Sam Florek.
Netflix is also moving forward with an adaptation of This Summer Will Be Different. This production features actors Sophie Nelisse, Roby Attal, and Francesca Reale. The story centers on characters navigating personal relationships and complex family dynamics on Prince Edward Island. Filming is currently underway for this project.
Prime Video remains involved in her work as well. Following the success of the first season, the streamer renewed Every Year After for a second season. This upcoming installment will pull its narrative directly from the book One Golden Summer, which continues the story of Charlie and Alice Everly. Amy B. Harris continues to lead this production effort for the streamer.
Finally, her novel Meet Me At The Lake is in development as a feature film. The rights were acquired in 2023 by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. The plot tracks the life of Fern Brookbanks and her complicated connection to an old acquaintance named Will Baxter. While most of her adaptations appear in the television space, this film project remains a notable part of the overall portfolio.
