Former Democratic Representative Katie Porter is stepping away from the political arena. After three terms in the House and unsuccessful campaigns for the U.S. Senate and the California governorship, Porter confirms she is done with electoral politics for the time being.

Porter is transitioning her public presence to focus on literature. She has rebranded her digital channels to Katie Porter Turns the Page, where she plans to share book recommendations, literary commentary, and author interviews. She recently showcased a whiteboard featuring the hashtag #Bookstagram to signal this new direction.

During her time in Congress, Porter was known for her pointed questioning of banking and pharmaceutical executives during legislative hearings. She often used a whiteboard to explain financial concepts and expose discrepancies in pay. Beyond her political work, she remains a law professor at the University of California at Irvine.

This shift marks a departure from a career characterized by viral committee appearances and high-profile statewide election bids. Porter finished third in the 2024 Senate primary and fifth in the gubernatorial race before deciding to end her current political efforts.
