The 1990s are back in Boardman this weekend. Spellbound Sisters Bookstore and Cafe on Lockwood Boulevard is hosting a Back to the 90s Adult Book Fair, recreating the nostalgia of those classic school-era events. The bookstore transformed its space to include themed cafe items, 90s music, and interactive photo opportunities designed for adults who remember the original experience.
Owner Caroline Victor noted the event offers an upgraded version of the past. The selection features special-edition books and stationery items like high-quality gel pens, which were hallmarks of the original fairs. The bookstore wants to give the local community a space to enjoy these items as adults rather than school children.
The event also highlights local literature. Author Z.L. Johnson appeared on Saturday to sign copies of his book, Bloody Deal. The story follows a reporter navigating a dangerous vampire prison camp. New authors are scheduled to appear throughout the event to meet readers and discuss their work.
The fair is free and open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday at 7095 Lockwood Boulevard. If you are looking for a trip down memory lane, the bookstore provides a specific venue to revisit a childhood tradition with a modern update.
