Rebelle Media & MGM Television Win Rights To Adapt ‘When In Rome’ Series By Sarah Adams
Rebelle Media and MGM Television announced at San Diego Comic-Con that they have secured rights to adapt Sarah Adams’ book series When In Rome for television. The acquisition comes as part of Rebelle Media’s strategic move to focus heavily on romance-driven storytelling across film and television platforms.
The series is set in Rome, Kentucky, following pop star Amelia Rose. After experiencing burnout, she escapes to the small town, where a mechanical car failure leaves her stranded at the home of a local baker named Noah Walker. The narrative follows their encounter and eventual relationship, setting the stage for the rest of the book series.
Each installment of the series tracks different couples navigating life and romance in Rome, Kentucky. The production team aims to bring the small-town charm and character arcs that readers of the original books expect to the screen. This project joins other adaptations currently in development at the studio, including The Paradise Problem and The Sicilian Inheritance.
Laura Lewis founded Rebelle Media in 2018 with a mission to prioritize female-led stories. Amanda Palley recently joined the company as Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer after a decade at CBS Studios. The announcement occurred during the Romance on the Big Screen panel at Comic-Con, where the team highlighted the need for more small-town romance narratives in television.
