Amy Winehouse’s father ordered to pay nearly £1million to her friends

Mitch Winehouse has been ordered to pay nearly £1 million to two friends of his late daughter, Amy Winehouse. This legal decision follows a High Court case regarding the sale of the singer's personal belongings, including clothes, jewelry, and memorabilia.

Deputy High Court Judge Sarah Clarke KC dismissed the claim filed by Mitch Winehouse, who acted as the personal representative of his daughter's estate. He alleged that the two women, former stylist Naomi Parry and friend Catriona Gourlay, had profited from selling items without authorization. The court found that the items were either gifts or the property of the women, and that the allegations made against them were unfounded.

In the court judgment, Judge Clarke described the claim as inherently weak and noted that it was pursued in a manner that damaged the reputations and financial security of the defendants. The judge stated that the legal action appeared to be an attempt to exert commercial pressure on the two women.

Under the court order, Mitch Winehouse is required to make payments to both women within two weeks. He must also cover their legal costs on an indemnity basis.
