First responders treated Perez Hilton for a drug overdose in addition to his physical injuries following an August 4 incident at his Miami home. Police arrived at the property after Hilton engaged in self-harm during a live broadcast. According to an incident report from the Miami-Dade County Sheriff’s Office, officers found the media personality after his sister, Barbara Lavandeira, took his three children to her car for safety.
The report states that Lavandeira witnessed her brother naked and covered in blood before he approached her vehicle and began banging on the window. Family members and authorities eventually entered the residence, where a fire rescue team began medical treatment for multiple lacerations and the reported overdose. Hilton was subsequently transported to a local hospital.
Hilton’s family provided an update on August 8, noting that his condition remains serious but stable. He is expected to undergo multiple surgical procedures as part of his recovery. His mother, Teresita Lavandeira, has filed for temporary custody of his children while he stays in the hospital. The legal request aims to provide the children with stability during the recovery process. An attorney for the family stated their primary focus is ensuring the safety and well-being of the minors involved in this situation.
