The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are planning a move back to the United Kingdom after spending six years abroad. Prince Harry and Meghan will relocate from the United States later this month to a private residence located outside of London. This shift follows their departure from the UK and their official royal duties in early 2020.

King Charles received information about this move last Sunday. There are no current plans for the couple to return to their former roles as working members of the Royal Family. The King views this as an opportunity to spend more time with his grandchildren in a private capacity. Prince William and Princess Catherine have also been informed regarding the relocation plans.

The couple has enrolled their two children, seven-year-old Prince Archie and five-year-old Princess Lilibet, in a British school starting this September. This decision marks a change in their living arrangements after years of residing in California.

Relations between the family have remained strained for several years. A visit by the Sussexes to the King's home in Gloucestershire this July served as a recent point of contact. This event was the first time in over four years that the King saw his grandchildren in person. Prince Harry and Meghan have not visited the UK together since attending the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.

Security concerns have consistently remained a subject of tension for the family. Prince Harry previously pursued a legal challenge regarding the security status provided to his family after he moved to the United States. He has stated in the past that safety concerns influenced his decisions about traveling to the UK. The couple will remain as private individuals following their return to the country.
