Spider-Man: Brand New Day earned $355 million at the North American box office during its opening weekend. This total ranks as the second-highest debut in cinema history, landing just $2.1 million behind the record held by Avengers: Endgame.
The film performed across 4,487 theaters. Thursday night previews brought in $72 million, which set a new record for the franchise. Friday generated $168 million, while Saturday added another $101.5 million to the total. These numbers significantly outperformed internal expectations from Sony Pictures, which had estimated a lower opening.
Tom Rothman, the Chair of Sony Pictures Entertainment, attributed the high commercial performance to the specific emotional arc of the story. He noted that the lack of major superhero films over the last five years increased audience demand. Kevin Feige from Marvel Studios described the result as a confirmation of the sustained connection between fans and iconic characters.
The industry is now monitoring whether the film will close the narrow gap with the all-time record. Marvel Studios plans to continue this momentum with the release of Avengers: Doomsday scheduled for December 18, 2026.
