‘The Odyssey’ Currently Conquering Near $40M In Global Debut

Christopher Nolan’s latest feature film, The Odyssey, is making significant waves at the global box office. The movie has earned $39.8 million in its opening period, including $17.6 million from North American previews alone. This start positions the film ahead of the debut performance of Nolan’s previous work, Oppenheimer, across the same international markets.

The film is currently screening across 13,300 foreign locations and 25,100 screens. It has secured the top spot in major territories, including France, Italy, Mexico, Germany, and Brazil. In Italy, the film captured 88% of the total box office share during its Thursday debut, setting a record for both the studio and the director in that market.

Despite the ongoing World Cup, audiences continue to head to theaters. Data indicates that a large portion of moviegoers plan to experience the film on the big screen alongside their tournament viewing. The production is playing in a variety of high-end formats, including 70MM and Imax, to accommodate the scale of the release.
