‘Wicker’ Trailer: Olivia Colman & Basket-Like Hubby Alexander Skarsgård Upend Quiet Village
The first trailer for Wicker has arrived, offering a look at the odd and comedic fable that premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival. Olivia Colman stars as a local fisherwoman who decides that her solitary life in a quiet village is not enough. She commissions a husband, who is crafted from wicker by a local basketmaker played by Peter Dinklage.
Alexander Skarsgård portrays the wicker husband, a character who surprises the community with his soulful spirit and unusual presence. As the fisherwoman grows closer to him, the dynamic in the village shifts. This connection sparks jealousy and curiosity among the locals, creating tension that disrupts their ordinary lives. The film leans into its fable-like premise with dry humor and strange situations.
The film features a screenplay that attracted significant talent. Colman has noted that the script ranks among her favorites. Elizabeth Debicki rounds out the cast in the project directed by the team of Alex Huston Fischer and Eleanor Wilson.
Black Bear secured the rights for the film earlier this year. Audiences can expect to see Wicker in theaters starting October 23, with a wider rollout planned for the following week.
