The Beatles Announce Rubber Soul Reissue
The Beatles have announced their next release in the ongoing Super Deluxe series. The band is set to issue their 1965 album Rubber Soul on October 2. This upcoming box set follows the format of previous deluxe editions, providing collectors with a wide range of archival material and updated audio technology.
Giles Martin returns as producer alongside engineer Sam Okell to lead the project. The release contains a fresh stereo mix, the original mono mix, and an 88-page book featuring an introduction by Paul McCartney. Fans will also find never-before-heard session recordings and home demos included in the package. The box set even features a previously unknown song outline written by John Lennon.
The audio improvements on this release rely on technical processes developed at Peter Jackson's WingNut Films Productions Ltd. Jackson remains a frequent contributor to these projects, having previously directed the eight-hour documentary Get Back. This release marks another chapter in the band's history of revisiting their catalog for archival sets.
Apple Corps plans to release the collection on October 2. Listeners can currently access an early recording of the track Michelle to preview the sound quality expected on the set. This release continues the trend of major archival projects for the band as they document their studio legacy.
