Ozzy Day set to honour Birmingham's famous son

Birmingham is set to honor the legacy of heavy metal pioneer Ozzy Osbourne on July 22 with the city's first Ozzy Day. This event marks the first anniversary of his death, offering fans an opportunity to commemorate his cultural impact on the city.

The city council has organized a series of events across local landmarks to recognize one of Birmingham's most famous sons. Fans can visit the Black Sabbath Bench on Broad Street, view the Ozzy Osbourne: Working Class Hero exhibition at the Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery, or participate in the city-wide Black Sabbath in the City trail.

Live music will feature prominently throughout the day. The Bostin Brass group will perform across multiple city locations, while musicians from the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra will hold a special performance at the Bullring. Attendees are also invited to share their personal stories and memories in a commemorative guestbook managed by the Birmingham Music Archive at New Street station.

In addition to the performances, fans can acquire commemorative merchandise. A limited edition t-shirt featuring a graphic from the final Black Sabbath concert and a complete list of his 52 performances in the city will be available for purchase at Selfridges. These activities reflect the city's commitment to preserving the memory of a figure who helped define a genre and shaped the cultural identity of Birmingham.
