Kathleen Hanna and Ad-Rock have released a new version of the DJ Snake and Justin Bieber track Let Me Love You. This cover appears on the benefit compilation Contra-ICE Vol. 1: ICE Out, which arrives on October 2 through SoundsGood. The project is available on digital, CD, and vinyl formats. The recording also features contributions from Money Mark, Fredo Ortiz, and Frank Figueroa.
Hanna shared that she enjoyed working with the Contra-ICE organization, an entity focused on grassroots efforts against fascism. She stated that working with Mario Caldato Jr., who produced the track, was a dream for her. The compilation also includes contributions from Tom Morello, Jello Biafra, and Fred Armisen among many others.
Build Art Make Change, the nonprofit that organized the compilation, aims to support frontline groups and mobilize artists through cultural infrastructure. Proceeds from the release fund the National Day Laborer Organizing Network and Unión del Barrio. Founder Dali Colorado explained that the album serves as a curated experience intended to help listeners process complex emotions while responding to political conditions.
The project features a vast range of artists and voices. It covers a broad spectrum of tracks designed to address the treatment of immigrants and systemic issues. With dozens of artists involved, the collection is a significant effort to bring attention to specific policy reforms through music.
