A Decade of Sound and Legacy

NCT 127 officially entered their second decade as a group on Monday, August 24, 2026. The K-pop powerhouse marked the milestone with the release of their seventh full-length album titled BLINGY. This nine-track collection serves as both a celebration of their past and a demonstration of their current creative direction. Fans have waited for this project to ground the group after months of speculation.

The album launch arrived with a high-budget music video for the title track, also named BLINGY. Produced by Benjmn, the track leans into heavy hip-hop influences with a structure designed for maximum impact. The video follows members JOHNNY, TAEYONG, YUTA, DOYOUNG, JAEHYUN, JUNGWOO, and HAECHAN through a cinematic heist narrative. They search for glittering items across Seoul, including a golden pig sculpture and luxury watches found on the subway. The production utilizes glitchy synths and driving percussion that force the listener to pay attention.

Internal Identity and Creative Evolution

The project centers on the slogan CALL 127. SM Entertainment stated that the album reflects on the group's journey over the last ten years while keeping the sound that established their name. They frame this collection as a unified effort between the artists and the NCTzen fan base. The tracks bridge the gap between their earlier aggressive, experimental sound and a more mature pop production style.

Listeners can find variety across the tracklist. Songs like Legacy tap into gospel influences, while Piñata and Step Up prioritize funk-rap energy. The group also incorporates futuristic elements in the track IKR, which uses video game-inspired sound effects. Getaway shifts the mood with smooth, jazz-inflected guitar work and pop harmonies. Day After Day acts as the record's ballad, though it eventually shifts into intense double-time drum patterns.

The closing portion of the album features tracks that include all seven members. This is significant as some members are currently fulfilling mandatory military service in South Korea. The songs 127 Million Miles and I mean, It’s about time serve as emotional bookends to the project. They address the past decade while acknowledging the group's intent to remain a cohesive unit despite physical distance.

Global Live Events and Future Touring

The release coincides with a significant move into the global cinema market. NCT 127 announced a worldwide screening event titled NCT 127 TOUR ‘NEO CITY : SEOUL —THE REDLINE’ in CINEMAS. This event broadcasts their fifth world tour finale live from Seoul’s Olympic Park KSPO Dome. The screenings are scheduled for September 20, 2026.

This marks the group's return to large-scale concert production after a nearly two-year hiatus. The tour event provides a platform for a full-group reunion. TAEYONG and JAEHYUN, who were previously unavailable due to their military service, return to the stage for this performance. Tickets for these theater screenings become available to the public on Friday, August 27, at 10 a.m. ET. The combination of a fresh studio album and a theatrical concert release signals a busy final quarter for the group.
