Nicko McBrain ranks Iron Maiden's albums, from worst to best
Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain recently shared his personal ranking of the band's studio discography during a fan event in Florida. The event, hosted at his restaurant Rock n Roll Ribs, featured the musician placing every studio album in order from worst to best on a presentation board.
In a choice that caught some listeners off guard, the 1980 self-titled debut album occupied the bottom spot. McBrain noted that while he respects the quality of the debut, the original production standards did not match later efforts. He positioned his later work with the band significantly higher on the list.
His selection for the top spot is A Matter of Life and Death, released in 2006. McBrain described the album as perfect, specifically citing tracks such as The Legacy and Lord of Light as high points. The list also placed Senjutsu and Piece of Mind in the top three positions.
This ranking arrives alongside news that McBrain is set to release his autobiography, titled Hello Boys And Girls, on October 22. He plans to support the book release with a tour starting shortly after.
