Slipknot has officially parted ways with turntablist Sid Wilson. The band announced the decision on August 14 through a social media post that stated the split is effective immediately. Wilson held the position of band member number zero and joined the group in 1998. The band did not provide specific reasons for the departure, simply stating that they wish him the best in his future work.
This change adds to a sequence of departures within the band over recent years. In 2019, percussionist Chris Fehn exited the group following a lawsuit regarding payment disputes. Craig Jones, who served as the band's keyboardist and sampler, left the group in 2023. Later that same year, the band parted ways with longtime drummer Jay Weinberg, citing creative decisions.
These personnel shifts occur as the group moves into a new phase of its career. Last year, the band finalized a deal to sell a majority stake in their music catalog to HarbourView Equity Partners. M Shawn Crahan noted that this partnership marks a transition into a larger scope for the band's business operations. Despite the roster changes, the group maintains that they intend to continue the work they started over two decades ago.
