The second season of the hockey-focused series Heated Rivalry is officially in production with a spring 2027 release date planned. Canadian streamer Crave confirmed that Justice Smith and Charlie Gillespie are joining the cast for the upcoming episodes.
Smith will play the role of Harris Drover while Gillespie takes on the part of Troy Barrett. These new characters are central figures in the original book series by Rachel Reid. Their storyline is expected to adapt the narrative from the fifth installment, Role Model.
Fans of the show will continue to follow the relationship between Shane and Ilya, played by Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie. The new season will adapt the events found in the sixth book of the series, The Long Game. Production teams have already requested that fans avoid active filming locations to ensure the crew can work without interruption.
The broader franchise remains active as well. Author Rachel Reid is currently preparing the seventh novel in the collection, titled Unrivaled, which is scheduled for publication in June 2027. This next book will document Shane and Ilya as they play for the same professional team for the first time.
