Melissa Gilbert won’t be returning to When Calls the Heart for season 14

Melissa Gilbert is departing the Hallmark Channel series When Calls the Heart. The actress confirmed that she will not appear in the upcoming 14th season, stating the decision is a result of budget constraints.

Gilbert joined the production during its 12th season and portrayed the character Georgie McGill. In a recent statement, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with Michael Landon Jr. and noted that she is preparing for new projects.

This exit occurs alongside ongoing legal developments regarding Gilbert’s husband, actor Timothy Busfield. In February, a grand jury indicted Busfield on four counts of criminal sexual contact with a minor. Busfield has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and Gilbert has maintained her presence at his court appearances throughout the proceedings.
