The cast included actors like Ella Hunt, Avantika, and Jay Ellis, while recurring roles featured well-known performers such as Constance Wu and Victor Garber. The premise aimed to capture the intensity of early career life in a fast-paced urban environment, yet it could not sustain enough viewership to justify a continuation beyond its initial run.
Kaling's Track Record in Television
This project represents the sixth series created by Mindy Kaling since the 2017 finale of The Mindy Project. Her history as a creator is mixed regarding long-term success. The 2018 series Champions lasted just one season on NBC, and the 2019 adaptation of Four Weddings and a Funeral was positioned as a limited series. These early post-Mindy Project ventures lacked the staying power seen in her other work. Netflix hit Never Have I Ever spanned four seasons, and The Sex Lives of College Girls successfully maintained a run of three seasons on HBO Max before concluding in 2025.
