The fourth season of Ted Lasso premieres on August 5 on Apple TV. As the show shifts focus, many familiar faces from the AFC Richmond team will not return for this new chapter.
Jason Sudeikis continues his role as Ted, but the plot moves away from the previous men's soccer setting. Ted now takes on the role of coach for the Lady Greyhounds, a second-division women’s team. This narrative change means several cast members associated with the original team, including Phil Dunster, Nick Mohammed, Sarah Niles, and Anthony Head, are absent from the upcoming season.
Returning cast members include Hannah Waddingham, Jeremy Swift, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Juno Temple. The show also introduces new characters to support the new storyline, with Tanya Reynolds joining as assistant coach Alice Chilton. Several new actors will portray players on the women's team.
Sudeikis recently noted that his interest in the project stems from his appreciation for women's sports and the community surrounding those teams. The new season marks a departure from the established dynamic of the first three seasons.
