'Today' show intruder broke into studio looking for Al Roker, confronted Craig Melvin

A security breach occurred at the NBC studio in Rockefeller Plaza on Thursday morning. An unauthorized man entered the building around 9 a.m. EST, reportedly seeking out Al Roker. When he failed to locate the host, he moved into a restricted area where he confronted co-host Craig Melvin.

According to law enforcement reports, the individual gained access to a stairwell and managed to reach the backstage area, eventually approaching the dressing rooms. Witnesses indicate the man lunged at Melvin and used a racial slur during the confrontation. Security personnel arrived and detained the intruder before any physical harm occurred.

NBC staff and law enforcement handled the situation, and the man is now under arrest. Despite the alarm caused by the intrusion, both Al Roker and Craig Melvin continued their scheduled work on the program, appearing on-air as usual shortly after the incident concluded.

This event took place on the same morning that Savannah Guthrie shared news of her upcoming project.
