How to Build Bigger Biceps with Just a 5kg Dumbbell – the Simple 4-Move Method That Works
You do not need heavy equipment to build arm size. Home training advocate Glenn Wilkinson demonstrates that a single 5kg dumbbell is enough to challenge your biceps if you change how you move.
The routine consists of four curl variations performed back-to-back without rest. You start with 10 traditional curls, move immediately to 10 hammer curls, transition to 10 cross-body curls, and finish with 10 concentration curls. By bracing your elbow against your knee during the final movement, you isolate the muscle and cut out momentum.
This sequence totals 40 reps per arm. Wilkinson recommends repeating the entire circuit three times. Because you are not resting, your muscles remain under tension throughout the entire session. This approach forces you to work near muscular failure, which is the primary driver for hypertrophy.
This method is a practical alternative for those with limited gear. If your current weights feel too light, try this flow to extend your time under tension and force your arms to adapt. Just be prepared for a significant burn.
