The global fitness community is in mourning after the death of Leroy Saunders. The 41-year-old fitness coach and gym owner died after collapsing during a HYROX competition in Bangkok on August 18.

Event staff and medical personnel provided immediate assistance on the scene at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. Despite these efforts, he was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital. Saunders was a respected figure in the Thai fitness industry, where he owned IAOT CrossFit and established specialized conditioning programs for combat athletes.

His family released a statement on social media confirming the loss and requested that the public wait for official medical information before speculating on the cause of the collapse. They described him as a mentor who made a significant impact on many lives.

HYROX events involve a combination of running and functional fitness movements, including sled pushes, rowing, and burpees. The high-intensity format pushes athletes to their physical limits over a period of 60 to 90 minutes. The Bangkok event, which occurred from August 13 to August 16, attracted thousands of participants.

Friends and colleagues have shared tributes online to honor his dedication to his athletes and his work ethic. His family is currently organizing memorial plans and expressed gratitude for the support from the community during this difficult time.
