New Planet Fitness Brings Jobs, 24-Hour Fitness To Clayton
Planet Fitness has opened its first location in Clayton, North Carolina, providing a new 24-hour gym facility for local residents. The 20,000-square-foot club is situated at 150 Blakely Street within the Pleasant Crossing Commons shopping center.
Operated by the franchise group Excel Fitness, the facility adds 19 jobs to the local economy. General Manager Brandice Fields confirmed that most roles are filled, though the company is currently hiring for a shift leader position. The location features over 60 pieces of cardio equipment alongside areas for strength training, high-intensity interval training, and mobility exercises. Black Card members gain access to a specialized spa area, which includes a Cryolounger recovery tool not available at other nearby clubs.
Regional Director Jay Chambers noted that Clayton became a target for expansion due to the significant residential and commercial growth in the area. This site marks the 30th location for Excel Fitness within the Raleigh-Durham-Fayetteville market. The company views Johnston County as a key growth area and continues to evaluate potential sites for future development as population demand for fitness services increases.
Monthly memberships at the new Clayton site start at $15. The opening reflects a continued focus by the franchise to increase the availability of convenient, affordable fitness options throughout the region.
