Intermountain Health to acquire Idaho Falls Community Hospital, expand ownership of Mountain View Hospital

Intermountain Health has announced a plan to acquire Idaho Falls Community Hospital and increase its ownership stake in Mountain View Hospital. The Utah-based nonprofit system currently holds an investment in both facilities and intends to become the sole owner of Idaho Falls Community Hospital as part of this transition.

The agreement involves the purchase of ownership interests currently held by Nashville-based Surgery Partners. Upon completion of the deal, Surgery Partners will exit its position in both hospitals. Intermountain Health operates a large network of over 30 hospitals and 400 clinics throughout the Intermountain West region, covering Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming.

Management teams at both hospitals confirmed that operational structure will remain consistent. Current leadership, staff, and compensation packages are not expected to change under the new ownership arrangement. Local management will continue to oversee daily operations at both facilities to maintain service continuity for patients in the Snake River Valley.

This transaction is subject to standard regulatory procedures and final approvals from the physician members and governing boards of Mountain View Hospital. Agreements between Surgery Partners and Intermountain Health must also reach final completion. Until these regulatory milestones are met, the transaction remains pending.
