FDA approves first OTC combo of Tylenol and Naproxen for ‘non-opioid’ pain relief

The FDA has granted approval for a new over-the-counter pain relief tablet that combines Tylenol and naproxen sodium. This is the first fixed-dose combination of these two popular medications available to consumers. The goal of this product is to provide an alternative for individuals dealing with persistent pain.

Clinical data shared by Kenvue shows the combination tablet performs better than either medication on its own. The study results indicate that patients experience pain relief within 30 minutes, with the tablet providing up to 12 hours of coverage for adults and children aged 12 and older.

Previously, managing persistent pain often meant navigating multiple medications and complicated dosing schedules. This combination is designed to simplify that process and improve treatment adherence by offering a single, multimodal option for non-opioid pain relief.
