Federal prosecutors in Illinois have charged a man with running a wide-reaching scheme to secure unauthorized prescriptions for Ozempic and Mounjaro. Rodney Greer, who reportedly used the online alias "$hotboy1," faces charges of wire fraud, healthcare fraud, and aggravated identity theft.

The investigation revealed that Greer allegedly obtained the personal identification information of approximately 60 doctors across 19 states. Between January 2023 and March 2026, he purportedly contacted nearly 261 pharmacies more than 3,000 times, impersonating medical professionals to obtain GLP-1 medications.

According to the indictment, Greer sold these prescriptions to customers for profit. The scheme resulted in the unauthorized use of insurance benefits amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars. Prosecutors highlighted incriminating text messages and payment app records that link Greer directly to the coordination of these orders.

Greer has pleaded not guilty to the four-count indictment. The case underscores the growing misuse of weight-loss drugs and the risks associated with fraudulent procurement of prescription medications.
