Representative Pat Fallon recently addressed reports regarding the USS Abraham Lincoln. These reports suggested that crew members faced supply shortages and mental health challenges during their extensive deployment. The aircraft carrier recently completed a modern-day record of over 200 consecutive days at sea without a port call.
Despite the concerns raised about the vessel and its crew, the Texas Republican stated that he does not make much of these reports. He noted that he has not heard anything personally from his office and expressed trust in the Navy to manage its operations. The ship was originally expected to return home in May, but its mission in the Middle East resulted in an extended duration at sea.
Acting Secretary of the Navy Hung Cao confirmed that the deployment is coming to an end as part of a planned rotation with the USS George Washington. While acknowledges that combat operations and long deployments are hard, the focus remains on the mission requirements that necessitated the extension. The ship will return to its home port soon, concluding its service in the region.
