Rusko "calls it a day" on music, citing mental health issues

Dubstep producer Rusko is stepping away from the music industry indefinitely. The artist, known legally as Chris Mercer, confirmed the decision following a personal struggle with mental health. In a statement shared with his fans, he described reaching a breakdown point after two decades of touring and recording.

Known for his contributions to the UK dubstep scene, Mercer rose to prominence through his work in Leeds and London during the mid-2000s. His 2007 mixtape with Caspa, FabricLive.37, remains a defining release that helped move the genre into the mainstream. He has navigated significant professional and personal challenges over the years, including a successful recovery from stomach cancer in 2017.

Mercer expressed gratitude for his long career and the support of his audience. He noted that he has dedicated his life to his art, but his current priority is his own healing. While the hiatus is indefinite, he did not rule out a return in the future. He described his departure as a necessary step for his well-being at this stage in his life.
