‘Healthy fast food’ chain from North Idaho plans first Boise location
A new dining option is coming to Downtown Boise. Permits filed with the city indicate that Konala Protein Bowls and Salads plans to open a location at 777 W. Main Street, Suite 120. This space previously housed a Tropical Smoothie location.
Founded in 2023 by Trace and Jammie Miller in Post Falls, Konala focuses on providing fast, health-conscious meals. The menu centers on bowls featuring protein, vegetables, and base options like rice or greens. The company provides nutritional information for each item, with most offerings ranging from 572 to 751 calories while providing 37 grams or more of protein.
This expansion is part of a larger growth strategy for the company. A franchise agreement signed in late 2025 with Speedy Foods LLC aims to develop 25 new locations, with 15 of those sites planned for the Treasure Valley. Konala currently operates in Idaho, Utah, Washington, and New Jersey. The new Downtown Boise site sits between existing businesses like Buffalo Wild Wings and the Idaho Livin shop.
