Wildfires force George Clooney's family to evacuate their home in southern France

George Clooney and his family were forced to evacuate their home in Brignoles, France, this week due to a wildfire burning nearby. The actor confirmed the situation in a letter to the local mayor, Didier Bremond, as the blaze threatened the surrounding region. The fire, which broke out on Wednesday afternoon, covered approximately 247 acres before local emergency services brought it under control.

In his communication with the mayor, Clooney expressed uncertainty about the status of their property but focused his message on the well-being of the local residents. He stated that he and his wife, Amal, remain committed to the community regardless of the outcome for their specific estate. The couple has been active in the Brignoles area since they purchased their property in 2021 and were recently granted French citizenship alongside their two children.

Approximately 700 residents were moved from the area as a precautionary measure while firefighters worked to contain the flames. Local authorities confirmed that those residents, including the Clooney family, were permitted to return to their homes on Thursday once the situation stabilized. While this blaze was relatively contained compared to larger fires seen in other parts of France recently, the evacuation underscores the ongoing risks faced by homeowners in the region during the summer months.
