Genetic Alliance Expands Global Genomics Laboratory Network with Three New Partners

Genetic Alliance has officially expanded its global genomics laboratory network by adding three new partners. Children’s Mercy in the United States, SN Genelab in India, and Xcelom in Hong Kong have joined the initiative to increase access to advanced testing for families affected by rare genetic conditions.

The program provides clinical whole genome sequencing at no cost to eligible families. By using Pacific Biosciences HiFi long-read technology, the network aims to shorten the time it takes for children to receive a diagnosis. These new partners were selected based on their technical capability, high-quality systems, and commitment to equitable care.

To date, the program has provided no-cost testing to nearly 4,000 underserved families. With 26 clinical sites now active across 14 countries, the expansion helps bridge the gap in genetic medicine for regions that previously lacked access to these specialized services. SN Genelab serves as the first laboratory partner in India, while Xcelom marks the first partnership in Hong Kong, representing a significant move to increase reach across South Asia and the Asia-Pacific region.

Ryan Taft, the Chief Scientific Officer at Genetic Alliance, noted that every new laboratory increases the opportunities for children to get a diagnosis that might otherwise remain out of reach. The nonprofit organization, founded in 1986, continues to work toward integrating genomic medicine into standard care while keeping families at the center of the process.
