A NASA astronaut with Potomac roots is returning to Earth Sunday. Here’s how to watch.

NASA astronaut Chris Williams is scheduled to return to Earth this Sunday after an eight-month mission aboard the International Space Station. A 2001 graduate of Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring, Williams spent his time in orbit conducting experiments and maintenance while performing two spacewalks.

Williams, 42, is set to land in the steppe of Kazakhstan at 6:25 a.m. Eastern Time. The return trip will involve a parachute-assisted touchdown of the Soyuz spacecraft. Once back on the ground, he will head to the Johnson Space Center in Houston for standard medical evaluations to assist researchers in understanding how long-duration spaceflight affects the human body.
