Fans local and abroad send love and support for Big Bear eagle Jackie while she receives medical care
The Big Bear bald eagle known as Jackie remains under medical supervision at the Ojai Raptor Center after a physical altercation with other eagles. Rescuers from the San Dimas Raptor Rescue Team transported her to the facility on July 17 after firefighters discovered her grounded near the Fawnskin nest. Medical professionals report that Jackie arrived in a weakened state, suffering from anemia and kidney inflammation. She recently required a life-saving blood transfusion from a donor bird named Spirit at the California Living Museum to stabilize her condition.
While her status is critical, the medical team at the Ojai Raptor Center notes signs of improvement. Jackie is currently alert, eating well, and capable of perching. The team continues to monitor her recovery closely, with further updates expected on July 27. Friends of Big Bear Valley, the nonprofit overseeing the nest camera, reports that Shadow continues to provide for their offspring, Sandy and Luna, while maintaining his defensive duties at the site.

This ensures that the immediate forest environment remains protected for the eagles and other local wildlife.
