Two juvenile great white sharks were spotted off the coast of Pine Point Beach in Scarborough on Tuesday. Local law enforcement confirmed the sighting near the southern tip of Prouts Neck and the mouth of the Scarborough River.
Authorities report the sharks measured between six and eight feet in length. While these animals are still young, officials are advising the public to exercise caution when engaging in any water activities in the immediate area.
Safety remains a priority for residents and visitors frequenting this stretch of the Maine coastline. Police are monitoring the situation closely following the initial reports of the sharks in the water near popular swimming spots.
