Misiorowski strikes out first 7 Rockies, sets Brewers record

Jacob Misiorowski put on a dominant display for the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, setting a new franchise record by striking out the first seven batters he faced against the Colorado Rockies. The right-hander controlled the game with precision, racking up 12 strikeouts over five innings of work. He allowed only one run on a single hit during his 83-pitch outing.

By the time he departed the mound, Misiorowski had fanned 12 of the first 13 Rockies hitters. This performance surpassed the previous team record of six consecutive strikeouts to start a game, which was established by Quinn Priester last season. Manager Pat Murphy noted the high level of execution, as the team secured an 11-2 win.

Misiorowski mentioned that better use of his lower half and improved leg drive contributed to his velocity, which peaked at 104.3 mph on a strikeout of Hunter Goodman in the first inning. Aside from one home run allowed in the fifth, he remained largely untouchable throughout his time on the hill.

While his run of seven straight was historic for the Milwaukee organization, the major league record remains held by Pablo Lopez, who struck out the first nine batters of a game in 2021. Despite falling short of the all-time league mark, the display served as a clear indicator of Misiorowski's current form. He exited the game with his team holding a significant lead to help lock down the victory.
