Legendary NASCAR driver makes history in joining iconic Hollywood club

Jimmie Johnson is the first motorsport driver ever selected for the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The seven-time NASCAR Cup Series champion earned his spot in the 2027 class alongside other entertainment icons including Sam Elliott, Kate Hudson, and Pedro Pascal. This recognition marks a historic milestone for racing as a cultural force in the United States.

Johnson described the honor as a humbling experience. Born in Southern California, he noted that his path from childhood dreams of racing to a star on Hollywood Boulevard was never part of a planned trajectory. He credited his family, teammates, and fans for their support throughout his career, emphasizing that this award belongs to the entire racing community rather than himself alone.

With 83 race victories and seven championships, Johnson holds a record tied with legends Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt. He is also a 2024 inductee into the NASCAR Hall of Fame. After retiring from full-time competition in 2020 and a brief stint in IndyCar, Johnson returned to NASCAR, currently leading Legacy Motor Club as a team owner.

He plans to conclude his driving career at the 2027 Daytona 500. Hendrick Motorsports has confirmed they will provide his team with the iconic No. 48 car for his final race, the same machine he piloted to all seven of his championships. While the date for the star ceremony is pending, Johnson and the other 31 inductees have two years to schedule the unveiling. This addition to the Walk of Fame cements his legacy well beyond the track.
