New Mexico-born NASCAR winner signs contract extension
Taylor Gray has secured his position behind the wheel for the 2027 season. The New Mexico native signed a contract extension to remain with Joe Gibbs Racing in the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series.
Gray, who hails from Artesia, currently drives the No. 54 Toyota Supra GR. Since moving to full-time status with the team in 2025, he has earned victories at Martinsville Speedway and Kansas Speedway. His performance in these races places him among the select group of 25 drivers to win a race for this specific team in the series.
Consistency defines the team’s current direction. Gray will continue his partnership with crew chief Jason Ratcliff, a veteran who has guided drivers to 59 series wins during his career. Both the driver and the team ownership cited their established working relationship as a primary factor in the decision to extend the agreement for another year.
With only three races remaining before the 12-driver postseason begins, Gray currently holds 12th place in the points standings. Team leadership stated that his work ethic remains a major asset as they look toward closing out the current season and preparing for the 2027 schedule. The extension ensures stability for the No. 54 team as they aim to build on their performance across the upcoming competition calendar.
