The Portland Trail Blazers have signed Jeremy Sochan to a one-year, non-guaranteed contract. The 23-year-old forward will compete for a permanent spot on the roster during the upcoming training camp. This move follows his time with the New York Knicks, where he contributed during their recent championship run.
Sochan entered the league as the No. 9 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs. He spent three and a half seasons in San Antonio, appearing in 212 games with 149 starts. He brings significant experience to the court, having logged over 25 minutes per game throughout that tenure.
During his time with the Spurs, Sochan recorded career averages of 9.9 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest. While his role decreased significantly after he moved to the Knicks in February, his track record shows he is capable of handling heavy rotation minutes. His defensive length provides the Blazers with necessary size in their forward rotation.
Although the team remains thin on outside shooting, the addition of Sochan prioritizes versatility. Training camp will determine if he secures a full-time position for the season ahead.
